Requiem for a Character Actor
Police Chief Quentin Price is called to the scene of a bloody murder backstage at the Chainville Theater. Steve Gossman, aka Willy Loman, has been executed with a 12-gauge buckshot load at the end of the play, Death of a Salesman. Who wanted Steve dead? Nobody. Well, nearly nobody. His wife Mildred wanted him questioned about the death of her parents. Mildred was involved with two lovers—did one of them want Steve dead? It was Ben Tilden’s turn to play the part this night, but he was ill. Did somebody want Ben dead? Who? Might it have been Arnie, the Building Inspector? Might it have been Alice, the bisexual who had something going with Karla, Ben’s wife? Major Alton Douglas is convinced that the real target for the night was Ben. Was that before or after the muscle men from Vegas showed up demanding a hundred thousand dollars? Was that before or after Arnie and Karla met in the roadhouse? And what about the Mercedes?

Infraction -- Getting Even
Here are two serial killers, each wishing to settle a score. Meet Wilberforce Duggie Hansen, at odds with a mother who is a domineering drunk and has a bias against the gay friends her son wishes to bring home. She arranges never to have to confront the question again. There’s Marty Syrzinski, a Navy Seal dropout with a temper, who goes on a murder spree just because he can. There are eight victims, with nothing unique about them except that they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. There are also two bank robbers, freshly released from an Oregon prison, on their way to Reno. A zip gun, a poisonous snake, a firebombing, stolen dynamite, an explosion, and three funerals—all within two weeks. Share the Chief’s second mystery. Visit him and his new love; banter with the city’s gadfly, Doris Odland; listen to the City’s Mayor McCheese; and watch the antics of the Reverend Amos Wilson as he puts on a Northwesterner’s version of a New Orleans funeral.

The Fire in the Belly: Motivating Yourself
Pocket Edition. What makes a person successful? Being born of successful parents? Often people are successful because they were not born into success and must expend extraordinary efforts. Being in the right place at the right time? Being in the right place at the right time comes with intensive study and activity. Good fortune comes to those who are prepared for it. “The luck of the draw?” Your odds of hitting the lottery are about the same as being hit by lightning. Is it strictly “location, location, location?” A good location enhances the sale of a piece of property, but real estate people sell property in any location. Should you cross your fingers and hope for the best? If you do, what you will receive will be the best that somebody else is willing to give you – and that may or may not be success. This book, designed essentially for people involved in home-based direct sales businesses, is a brief examination of how to crank up your own motivation to become the success you know you can be.

The Hollerith Tattoo
Here is a convicted white-collar criminal who resolves to settle the score with six people—and more if necessary—who put him away. Malcolm Zytel is a computer programmer for the Pelican National Bank. He has devised an amazingly simple way to embezzle money. When he takes $100,000 and runs, he is unaware that he could have taken much more. For his crime he receives a ten-year sentence in the minimum-security prison at Susanville, CA. He breaks out of Susanville and leaves a string of bodies as he attempts to settle his personal score with bank employees and the legal system. However, he hadn’t “banked on” the grit of the shrink who helped put him away, Doctor Carole Roberts, now married to the Chief of the Chainville Police, Quentin Price.

God, Wood Smoke, and Sparkplugs
His name was Darrell Savage. I'd known him in the snows of the midwest. Now I'd discovered him in the snows of New England. He had a message for me then, and he has one now. There was no reason for him to still be alive--except he had a message for me and a lot of work for me to do.
